How I Started.
In June of 2020 I found an arrowhead out in a field near my house. My father was a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and my family has always been involved in his culture. I was curious about the techniques Native Americans used to create arrowheads, so I found a YouTube video and after that it became an infatuation.

Often I think about if the natives looked at flint knapping as an art form, or if they were simply thinking about survival. I feel more connected with myself and my family while I'm knapping. I think about my distant relatives sitting around the fire working on their own arrowheads.

You can learn a lot from flint knapping. It takes your mind off everything else, leaving just you and a rock. You learn about yourself and you learn about the rock. Sometimes the rock is just going to be what it wants to be.
